SMGH COLOUR RUN CREATES A RAINBOW EXPLOSION OF CHEER

Four hundred and thirty-five enthusiastic runners and walkers participated in the SMGH Colour Run for Health, presented by Goodlife Fitness, on Sunday, June 7th, 2015 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH).

3K, 5K & 10K participants were doused in brightly coloured powder at multiple stations throughout the race route, resulting in a spectacle of rainbow coloured runners and walkers.

The event also boasted a professional DJ, free pizza from Domino’s Pizza, refreshments and sponsor booths.  The final activity of the event was the ‘Colour Explosion’, in which all participants gathered and simultaneously threw their colour packet into the air, while counted down by DJ LamChops.  Colour blasters were set up around the perimeter of the crowd, resulting in a breathtaking multi-coloured cloud.

“The outpouring of enthusiasm and praise for this event from the community is overwhelming,” says Susan McLean, SMGH Foundation CEO.  “We are already looking forward to next years’ event, which will be even bigger and more colourful than this year!”
The organizing committee would like to thank all participants, sponsors and volunteers who helped to make this event an incredible success.  $44,000 was raised through a combination of pledges, sponsorships and run/walker registrations. These funds will support breast cancer programs at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.
